What I was feeling when I hit Myrtle ....

I was in complete shock. Earlier that day, Tom and Gatsby exchanged cars in New York. Myrtle saw Tom driving the car, and assumed it was his car. Then when Gatsby and I were driving back home from New York, Gatsby and I were in his car. Myrtle ran out into the street in an attempt to flag down Tom, who she thought was driving the car. I happened to be driving Gatsby's car at this point and was upset and worked up about events that happened earlier in the day that I made a mistake. I was not able to have complete control over the vehicle. My mind was focused on driving. Sadly, I struck and killed Myrtle. Gatsby who loved me so much was willing to take the blame and all the consequences of the accident. Gatsby made sure that everyone knew he was the one who hit her, and it was not me. After I hit Myrtle I couldn't drive, I was so shook up about what happened. This affected me for a long time mentally, but it only affected Gatsby physically.
